Pelvic Floor Therapy

Pelvic floor physical therapy (PFPT) is a specialty involving the evaluation and treatment of problems that are often related to the pelvis. These conditions often include involvement of the pelvic floor muscles, a group of muscles that form a bowl in the bottom of the pelvis. These muscles run from the pubic bone to the tailbone, and play a role in urinary, bowel and sexual function as well as support and stability of the pelvis and spine.

What does a pelvic floor physical therapist treat?

  • Pelvic, genital, or tailbone pain conditions
  • Core or pelvic issues
  • Orthopedic pelvic pain
  • Urinary symptoms: incontinence, prolapse and more
  • Bowel symptoms: constipation, fecal incontinence
  • Sexual dysfunction, pain, or discomfort
  • Prenatal and postpartum concerns
  • Male pelvic health

Pelvic floor physical therapy evaluation (first visit)

Approximately 80 minutes: $150

After scheduling your first appointment, you will have the opportunity to complete initial intake paperwork. This will include a health and history questionnaire which will give you an opportunity to share your story with us. This allows us to tailor your initial evaluation to address the problems that are important to you.

Dr. Hannah comes to the home and we choose a space you are comfortable in where we will discuss in detail your history, current difficulties, and goals for treatment. After this, we perform a comprehensive examination, which includes a movement and postural analysis, and also more specific examination techniques based on your individual case. Depending on your symptoms this may include an internal examination, if deemed necessary and if you are comfortable with this form of assessment. From here, we recommend a treatment program and a strategy to achieve your goals.

Please wear loose fitting or athletic clothing and have paperwork completed if possible. Evaluation consists of patient history, movement and functional assessment tailored to your specific needs.

Pelvic floor physical therapy (subsequent visits)

Approximately 60 minutes: $125

Treatment programs created at evaluation will be implemented over a recommended frequency and duration to help you achieve short and long term goals.
